Major Noonan came to the St. Joseph County Police after retiring from the South Bend Police Department. Major Noonan spent 32 years with the South Bend Police Department and had a myriad of assignments while with the South Bend PD. Those assignments included Communications, Patrol, K9 Unit, County Special Crimes Unit (Homicide), patrol supervisor and Uniform Division Commander. Major Noonan also moved up the ranks while at the South Bend Police Department, retiring as a Captain. During his career at the South Bend Police Department Major Noonan received numerous commendations and awards to include the Medal of Valor twice as well as the Chief’s Annual Leadership Medal twice. Major Noonan attended Holy Cross Junior College as well as Bethel University. He also is a graduate of the Northwestern Police Staff and Command Program and the Indiana Chiefs of Police Executive Leadership Program (PELA). Since joining Sheriff Redman’s administration in 2019 he has assisted with budget items and several programs that have been implemented under Sheriff Redman.
